Medical Conscience Rights: Cornerstone Supports HB 1787-FN

stethoscope
Your doctor shouldn’t have to leave her convictions at the office door when she comes to work.

On Tuesday, February 20, at 10:00 a.m., a House committee will consider HB 1787-FN. This bill would prohibit discrimination against health care providers who object on religious, moral, or ethical grounds to participating in providing or facilitating abortion, artificial contraception, or sterilization. The full text of the bill is at this link.

Cornerstone believes that no health care provider should lose a job for declining to participate in procedures that violate the provider’s conscience.

The public hearing is on Tuesday, February 20, at 10:00 a.m. in room 208 of the Legislative Office Building, behind the State House.
  • Attend the hearing. If you wish to testify aloud, fill out a pink card, available near the door of the committee room. If you wish to register your support for the bill without speaking, there will be a sign-in sheet near the pink cards.
  • If you can’t attend, email a statement of support to HouseJudiciaryCommittee@leg.state.nh.us. Put “Yes on HB 1787-FN” in the subject line.
  • Share information about HB 1787-FN with all the health care workers you know. Let them know their voices count!
