Legislative Update: Ask Your Representatives to Defend Life this Week

This week the House meets in full session on Wednesday and Thursday, February 16 -17. Among the bills they will likely vote on is HB 1609, relative to the scope of the fetal life protection act. Cornerstone now strongly supports this bill.

As originally written, prior to the adoption of the amendment put forward by Rep. Beth Folsom, HB 1609 would have totally gutted the Fetal Life Protection Act, effectively returning New Hampshire to its former abortion up until birth status by removing the bill’s ultrasound requirement, among other things. As amended, the bill now simply clarifies the extremely narrow scope of the original law’s ultrasound requirement.

The ultrasound requirement has been one of the most frequently targeted aspects of our new law, with supporters of abortion claiming that it is onerous and cruel. HB 1609, if passed, would leave pro-abortion activists no grounds to continue to spread this misinformation.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: Please contact your Representatives and ask them to vote YES on the Committee recommendation of OUGHT TO PASS WITH AMENDMENT on HB 1609.
