Ask Governor Sununu to VETO HB 685, the Abortion Insurance Mandate

ACTION ITEM: CALL GOVERNOR SUNUNU’S OFFICE AT (603) 271-2121 AND ASK HIM TO VETO HB 685

If you have already called or emailed the Governor about this bill, please contact him again with your brief and friendly reminder.

WHY? Governor Chris Sununu is the only person standing between you and House Bill 685, an abortion insurance mandate. Abortion supporters want to mandate that some health insurance policies cover abortion, even though HB 685’s current language never got a public hearing in the New Hampshire House.

Abortion advocates have given HB 685 a fake name: “Reproductive Health Parity.” Those words obscure the real purpose of the bill: to equate abortion with health care, and to force abortion coverage where it doesn’t belong. Abortion is not health care!

Let’s encourage Governor Sununu to do the right thing!

What’s Wrong With HB 685?

  • An abortion insurance mandate would violate the conscience rights of pro-life Granite Staters.
  • No one seeking health insurance for self or family should be without abortion-free options. No insurer should be compelled by the state to cover – that is, help pay for – abortion. No employer who cares enough to offer health insurance as an employee benefit should thereby be forced to participate in abortions.
  • It would be an insult to voters to sign a bill that passed the House and Senate in such an underhanded manner by way of a non-germane amendment in the Senate and no public hearing in the House.
