Ask the Senate Judiciary Committee to Support State Recognition of Biological Sex

Last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee heard SB 552 a critical, straightforward bill that clarifies the state’s permission to classify biological sexes in public areas such as athletic competitions, prisons, restrooms, and places of intimate privacy.

Across the state in Interlakes, Milford, and New Ipswich, biological males identifying as females have abused unrestricted access to female locker rooms, resulting in normalized harassment. Because there is no law explicitly giving permission to the state to separate biological sexes, the state Department of Justice claims that NH is prohibited from doing so at all.

SB 552 will address this issue and clarify that public entities are not forbidden from differentiating between the biological sexes. The bill resolves serious safety concerns arising from the use of self-declared gender identity by allowing the separation of shared private spaces.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

🗓️ SB 552 will now have an executive session. During an executive session, the committee will vote to recommend the bill as OTP (ought to pass) or ITL (inexpedient to legislate).

✅ Please contact the Senate Judiciary Committee and urge them to vote OTP (Ought to Pass) on SB 552.

ICYMI: Judge Daniel Will Confirmed to the NH Supreme Court

Earlier this week, the Executive Council voted 4-1 to confirm Judge Dan Will to the NH Supreme Court for the rest of his career. Despite thousands of emails from Granite Staters demanding an originalist nominee, Councilor Dave Wheeler – a stalwart conservative – was the only member of the Council to vote against Will’s confirmation.

The Council approved Will’s lifetime appointment even though both audio recordings and court documents show Will lied to the Council in two hearings. Will flatly told the Council that, as Solicitor General, he never asked constitutional rights to be suspended.

In fact, as every Republican Councilor learned prior to the vote, both an audio recording and a court order showed that Will asked a court to hold that civil liberties must be suspended in an emergency for the greater good. Will’s failure to discuss this argument candidly should have spoken for itself.

Cornerstone will remain firmly committed to defending the constitutional rights of all Granite Staters through Superior Court litigation, statutory changes, helping principled personnel get and keep positions of official authority, and any other instrument at our disposal.

Biotech Companies Support Pro-Life NH Bill

Rep. Erica Layon’s HB 1292 is a new right-to-try bill that criminalizes using aborted babies’ organs as a source for stem cell lines. After last year’s advancements for the right to try experimental life-saving treatments, biotech companies are now taking interest in New Hampshire. Layon’s bill will help continue to attract innovation to the Granite State while ensuring we stop and criminalize use of abortion byproducts.

Modeled precisely after a working Florida law, the bill lays out specific sectoral protections for regenerative stem cell usage. By prohibiting experimental treatment biotech companies from using stem cells of aborted children, companies can research life-saving treatments without supporting a life-taking industry. Stem cell treatments that do not use abortion will still be strongly protected. Companies in Florida are successfully using these protections, and New Hampshire should do the same.

Ask Municipal Committee to Pass Pro-Family Bill

HB 1195relative to municipal zoning requirements for child day care providers, would change how municipal zoning rules apply to child care providers in the state. Specifically, the bill requires towns and cities to allow child care facilities to operate by right in appropriate zones if they meet state licensing requirements, rather than letting local ordinances restrict or block them.

This bill is a practical step to address New Hampshire’s severe shortage of child care options, which currently affects families. HB 1195 would remedy stricter local zoning ordinances that prevent home-based providers or smaller centers from operating in certain neighborhoods, thereby reducing unnecessary barriers and supporting family stability.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

🗓️ HB 1195 will now have an executive session Tuesday, February 17. During an executive session, the committee will vote to recommend the bill as OTP (ought to pass) or ITL (inexpedient to legislate).

✅ We urge you to contact the Municipal Committee and ask them to vote OTP on the bill.
