Another Opportunity for Abortion Statistics (HB 158-FN, 2019)

Cornerstone Action supports HB 158-FN, relative to induced termination of pregnancy statistics. We have supported similar bills since 2004. We saw the commendable and painstaking bipartisan work in 2015 and 2016 that went into a statistics bill which unfortunately did not pass. It demonstrated nonetheless that bipartisan cooperation on this public health measure is possible. We support the collection of abortion statistics, in aggregated …

Federal Government Moves to Keep Tax Dollars Away From Abortion Providers

The Trump Administration on May 18, 2018 announced a proposed federal Health and Human Services rule to prohibit Title X family planning funds from going to agencies that perform abortions. Cornerstone Executive Director Shannon McGinley issued this statement about the proposed rule. The proposed HHS rule is good news. We welcome any step that respects the conscience rights of people who choose not to …

The New Hampshire House let down New Hampshire voters by rejecting four life-issue bills in recent weeks. HB 1680, Viable Fetus Protection Act: the bill was tabled without debate on March 21. Preventing Coerced Abortions (HB 1721, 2018)

Cornerstone supports HB 1721, a bill to prevent coerced abortions. A woman exercising her constitutionally protected right to terminate a pregnancy should have an enforceable right to do so without coercion and with full briefing about alternatives to abortion. A woman who has an abortion because she feels she has no other choice is a woman under coercion. More than 20 years ago, Feminist …

Yes to Meaningful Informed Consent for Abortion (HB 1707-FN, 2018)

Cornerstone urges passage of HB 1707-FN, the Abortion Information Act. We are concerned about public policy regarding a woman’s right to have full information, and adequate time to consider it, before making a decision to have an abortion. HB 1707 is drafted to be consistent with the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1992 Casey decision which reaffirmed the basic holding of Roe v. Wade while also upholding …

Time for N.H. House to Pass Abortions Statistics Bill

The House Health and Human Services Committee (HHS) has recommended passage of an abortion statistics bill, HB 471. Time and again, efforts to pass a statistics law have fallen short. The House can put that sorry history behind it in the first week of the 2018 legislative session, by accepting the committee’s “ought to pass with amendment” recommendation. New Hampshire is one of only …

Abortion Statistics (HB 471, 2017)

Cornerstone Policy Research has supported abortion statistics bills going back to 2004. A representative of Cornerstone Action sat in on study committee hearings on the last two statistics bills considered by the House. We saw firsthand the commendable and painstaking bipartisan work in 2015 and 2016 that went into the last statistics bill, HB 629, which this committee sent to the House on a …

Women’s Right to Know: HB 1659 (2012)

Cornerstone Action offers our strong support for HB 1659, the Women’s Right to Know Act. The thirteen co-sponsors have our thanks for proposing this comprehensive act. Informed consent is essential to good health care.
