Cornerstone Applauds Nomination of Frank Edelblut to be Commissioner of Education

Cornerstone welcomes Governor Chris Sununu’s decision to nominate former state representative Frank Edelblut to be New Hampshire’s next Commissioner of Education.

Cornerstone board member Shannon McGinley said,  “As a parent, public servant, and entrepreneur, Mr. Edelblut understands the importance of education for all of New Hampshire’s children. He also understands the need to allow parents the flexibility to choose the best educational environment for their children.”

As a legislator and later a candidate for governor, Mr. Edelblut was a strong advocate for school choice, parental rights, and local control in education for the benefit of all students. He has opposed Common Core. He and his wife Kathy have seven children, whom they homeschooled.

Mr. Edelblut would succeed Commissioner Virginia Barry, whose resignation is effective at the end of January 2017.

Mr. Edelblut’s nomination will go before the Executive Council for confirmation. Cornerstone Action urges the Councilors to confirm Mr. Edelblut without delay.
