Cornerstone commends Senate for passing responsible budget

Today, the NH Senate passed the 2012-13 state budget, HB1 and HB2, each by 19-5 margins down party lines.

Commenting on the passage of HB1 and HB2 was Cornerstone Executive Director, Kevin Smith:

“We commend the Senate for passing the most responsible and fiscally prudent budget in years.  In the midst of one of the greatest economic downturns, the Senate, under the leadership of Senate President Bragdon and Senator Morse, was able to reign in spending while still fund essential services for our most vulnerable – all without raising taxes.  They should be commended for a job very well done.”

HB1 and HB2, the budget bills, will now go to committee of conference before the final versions are voted on.
