PARENTS BEWARE

RECENT CALIFORNIA COURT RULING - Read the Court Opinion

FACT:  The Supreme Court of the United States has repeatedly upheld that there is an implied constitutional right of parents to oversee the health, education and well being of their children.  The NH State Supreme Court has echoed this finding.

However, our legislatures over the past few years have continued to erode those implied constitutional right of parents. Under the premise of safety, the NH legislators have passed laws telling you when you must put safety helmets or floatation devices on your children.

The NH legislature wants to tell you how to educate your children by making kindergarten mandatory.  They passed a law last year requiring your child to stay in school until they are 18.  THEY ALSO REMOVED YOUR RIGHT to determine when your child may leave school by transferring the authority to terminate the education of YOUR children to the school superintendent.

The NH legislature and Governor John Lynch removed your right to be told IF your child is considering a major, invasive medical procedure.  The legislature doesn't want you to know, but they want you to be financially responsible for any medical or psychological side-effects.

For these reasons it is time to amend our NH Constitution to say that the state shall not abridge the right of parents to control the welfare and education of their children. Read more about this in our Grassroots Action Center.
